My Story

Hi there Beautiful Badass, Welcome!

My name is Artemis and I have worked in the fitness industry for almost 20 years. I have been an athlete all my life, from classical ballet to kung fu to kettlebells and powerlifting. Over the course of my career as an entrepreneur and fitness leader, I built 4 profitable multiple 6-figure businesses that collectively grossed multiple 7-figures, and had a very successful and rewarding career in the fitness industry.

However, all of that hustle and success did not come without an impact on my health and lessons learned to motivate me to regain balance and well being, so that I could continue to thrive and achieve my highest badassery.

If you are a high performer like me, then I’m sure you can understand how the drive to succeed and achieve your goals can override what is best for your health. Often, you don’t feel the repercussions until you reach a significant age milestone when the effects of the stress that you put your body through are compounded by the natural biological changes that come with aging.

Growing up in Newton, MA, I was fortunate in that I was raised in a house where organic whole foods, farmers markets, home grown vegetable gardens, and walking everywhere (to school, to the T to go to ballet, etc.), was the norm. My mother did not allow us to ever have soda, chips, or sugar cereal. My dad had a vegetable garden, my mom would shop at the local farmers markets and Bread and Circus (now Whole Foods Market), and all of our meals were always home cooked. My mom was a Level 2 CHEK Practitioner so I learned early on about the dangers of processed soy, using the microwave and plastic food containers, and many other things that cause hormone imbalances.

However, even though I was raised in a healthy household on homemade meals with whole organic foods, and learned early on the practice of an active lifestyle, I have still had my own health challenges.

In my early 40’s, after I closed my brick and mortar gym and moved from Boston to Las Vegas, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s auto-immune thyroid disease and Stage II Adrenal Dysfunction. 

Through Hormone Replacement Therapy and some researched-based adjustments to my nutrition and lifestyle, I thought I had it all figured it out and healed what I had harmed from starving myself and overexercising in my teens and 20’s, to the stress I put on my body from hustling to build my fitness business in my 30’s.

Ages 43 – 44

But then, in 2021 I turned 45 and the shit hit the fan. My body revolted like never before and my body no longer felt like my body.

I experienced bloating, inflammation, digestive issues, night sweats, fatigue, extreme vaginal dryness, and painful sex. My once egg-carton abs from strength training and careful attention to my nutrition were no longer to be found, and I feared that my sex life was over, forever.

My body became extremely unforgiving and it did not matter how meticulous I was with my nutrition. I would have good days and then bad weeks. I felt like I had no control over my body and that my hormones had gone rogue and were not just running the show, but some sick and twisted version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

For the past three years, I have studied and applied the latest research on fitness, health, and hormone balance for women who are on the spectrum of peri to postmenopausal and worked to figure out how to feel good, build muscle, move well, and stay strong not just over 40, but especially over 45 and into your 50’s and beyond.
