LISTEN TO YOUR INTUITION, SHE KNOWS HER SHIT. Your gut instinct? It’s real. If something doesn’t feel right, it isn’t. If you feel a force deep inside you, calling you to follow a path that likely scares the shit out of you & is completely different than your current one, it’s your intuition telling you to take the leap, make the change, or level up. At each pivotal point in my career as a fitness professional, my intuition told me the next step. Sometimes with a little nudge, but more often than not, loud & clear with a megaphone & capital letters. In 2008 when I transitioned from an office job to work in the fitness industry full-time, my intuition told me “I KNOW YOU’RE SCARED, BUT YOU’RE FUCKING MISERABLE. What are you going to do? Work in an office for the rest of your life wondering “WHAT IF?”. Take the leap, you can always go back if things don’t work out, but they will.” Sure enough, they did & I never looked back. In 2011 when I left the commercial gym to open up my own gym, my intuition said to me, “I know this feels like jumping out of plane without a parachute, but you were born to be a leader & entrepreneur & not a lemming counting client sessions to make management’s numbers.” She was right. After I left: I entered the online space, started my blog, started my online training biz, began speaking at fitness events, & created my women’s strength workshop I Am Not Afraid To Lift®. . In 2016 when we closed our gym, as hard as it was, my intuition told me, “This season has ended, it’s time to move on.” . In August 2018, after working as a strength coach for Cirque du Soleil for 1.5yrs, my intuition greeted me with, “This is it? This is all you’re going to do day in & day out? What happened to that leader & entrepreneur I used to know?” With that she pushed me to get crackin’ on growing my online biz & I hired my first biz coach. In November 2019, after a successful year of my online biz was wrapping up, I was burnt out from busting at the seams. GRATITUDE CHALLENGE. I’m sure you’ve heard that it’s important to practice daily gratitude & that it’s 1 habit that the most successful people practice, but do you know WHY? Do you know the SCIENCE & PSYCHOLOGY behind practicing daily gratitude? In case you missed my IGTV yesterday about this topic, I’ll fill you in... . THE SCIENCE. When you practice daily gratitude, e.g. after you wake up in the morning, 1 of the first things that you do is to write down 3 things that you are grateful for, it boosts the neurotransmitter DOPAMINE. Dopamine is our feel good/happiness neurotransmitter. So, when you kick off your day by practicing daily gratitude, your dopamine rises, & you feel happy & positive as you start your day. This carries over into all the things that you do that day. PLUS, when dopamine increases our brain says “Ooo, that feels good, I want more of that!”, like a reward, which motivates us to keep doing it. When you practice daily gratitude at the end of your day or before you go to sleep, it helps you to eliminate worry & rest your head on your pillow with positive thoughts & a positive mind. As a result, studies have shown, that it helps you to have a more restful, peaceful night’s sleep. THE PSYCHOLOGY. As it relates to NEUROPLASTICITY, when you practice daily gratitude it re-wires your brain to regularly think more positive & for you to feel more happy. As a result, you train your brain to have more of an ABUNDANCE mindset vs. a SCARCITY mindset. Here’s the other thing, energy is everything & everything is energy. Thus, the universe (or God, or whatever it is that you believe in) will only give you back what you’re asking it for & what you are willing to receive based upon your regular thoughts. So, if you’re not grateful for what you already have, regardless of whether or not you are currently in a prosperous moment in your life, then the universe will NOT give you more, because you’re not yet grateful for what you already have or for what’s already on your plate. YOU ARE ONLY ONE DECISION AWAY FROM A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LIFE. Yesterday as I stepped out into my garage to lift, 1hr behind schedule, I immediately felt grateful for so many things: . 🙏🏽for the reason why I was getting a late start to my workout: I had a very productive AM working in my own biz, that I created & built, all on my own . 🙏🏽for the fact that we now live in sunny☀️Vegas rather than cold ass🥶Boston & I wake up to skies filled with bright, sunshine ~292 days per year & I can workout in my garage in a tank top on a 64°F day in mid-Feb . 🙏🏽for after 2yrs of struggling to regulate my low thyroid & Hashimoto’s auto-immune disease that I finally accomplished this, & have the lab results to show for it. I struggled for 12yrs with low thyroid & Hashimoto’s (10yrs misdiagnosed+2yrs actively trying to get healthy), & learning this news was LIFE CHANGING for me. A huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders & I have my health back . 🙏🏽for the fact that I no longer have to wake up to an alarm or at 4am, or work split shifts, in order to run my biz.
