When I was in my 20’s and early 30’s, I kept hearing that once you turn [INSERT AGE OVER 35], it’s all over.
Your body starts to change and you have no control over it. You will gain weight, get weak, and stop being athletic.
As I entered my late 30’s I kept waiting for this dreaded day to arrive, but it didn’t. Instead, after I turned 35, I went on to become the strongest, leanest, and most jacked and shredded I had ever been in my life.
💪🏽Age 38 – I completed the Iron Maiden Challenge
💪🏽Age 39 – I deadlifted 300lbs at my first powerlifting meet
💪🏽Age 40 – I squatted 215lbs at my first full power powerlifting meet at 112lbs bodyweight
💪🏽Age 41 – I deadlifted 315lbs
This was because my parents raised me to understand the importance of an active, healthy lifestyle, combined with eating fresh, organic, whole, home grown, and home cooked foods and meals.
I applied this knowledge throughout my life, along with strength training and being an athlete from ballet and kung fu, to kettlebells and powerlifting, and the results showed.
Then, at age 41, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s auto-immune thyroid disease and Stage II Adrenal Dysfunction.
Through Hormone Replacement Therapy and some researched-based adjustments to my nutrition and lifestyle, I thought I had it all figured out and healed my body.
But then, I turned 45 and the shit hit the fan. My body revolted like never before and my body no longer felt like my body.
I experienced all of the horrors of perimenopause from bloating+inflammation to vaginal dryness. My body became extremely unforgiving and it did not matter how meticulous I was with my nutrition. I felt like I had no control over my body and that my hormones had gone rogue.
For the past 3 years, I have studied and applied the latest research on fitness, health, and hormone balance for women 40+ and I finally feel like my badass self again.
