Some Iron Body Reads and Why Men Who Choose to Train with Tracy Anderson Should Lose Their “Man Card”…

This week started off with Miley Cyrus prancing around half naked at the Video Music Awards and ended with learning about the fact that Tracy Anderson will now be training men.  Yes, you read that correctly.  The only thing that disturbed me about Miley Cyrus’ performance was that she demonstrated that she clearly needs to eat something substantial and do squats.  Many squats. Daily.  Multiple times per day.  Talk about an unhealthy backside.

Miley Cyrus Backside 2013

The Tracy Anderson phenomenon never ceases to amaze me because, in my opinion, she represents everything opposite that is true strength, fitness and healthy.  This week I learned that she will now be training men.  You can read more about this atrocity HERE.  Any man who chooses to train with Tracy Anderson should lose his “man card”.  Or perhaps those men who voluntarily train with her, without bribery or brute force, never had a “man card” in the first place??  We’ve already lost Robert Downey Jr. to this vortex of pink dumbbells and resistance bands.  He should be stripped not only of his “man card” but also his Iron Man title.  Dean Somerset wrote a great post back in February 2013 entitled “A Logical Argument Against the Tracy Anderson Method”.  If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, I encourage you take a few minutes to read it.

Fortunately in between these vision blinding and jaw dropping events, I had the opportunity to read many worthwhile posts this week.  Normally I share the posts and articles that I read throughout the week on my Facebook page and Twitter but there were quite a few posts that I read this week that I thought were worth sharing.  Therefore I decided to post them all together here on my blog.  Enjoy the weekend reads and have a great long weekend if you are on vacation for this Labor Day holiday!  And, please, eat, do some squats, and carry something heavy… 🙂

Breakfast: To Eat or Not to Eat?  That is the Question.  By Emily Socolinsky

I completely relate to this post by Emily Socolinksy because breakfast is VERY important to me.  I do not practice fasting or intermittent fasting in any way because it is important for me to maintain metabolic homeostasis.  Emily writes about how her breakfasts have changed and evolved over the years and even her experiment with intermittent fasting.  Read her post HERE.

How Weight Loss Makes You Fatter, By Jen Sinkler

Jen Sinkler opens up about how stress effected her regular eating and exercise routine and how different events in her life threw her off schedule.  She also speaks to her experience with intermittent fasting and her road to get her metabolism back to the “fiery, food burning engine” it used to be.  Read her post HERE.

Strong vs. Toned: The Truth About Gender-Specific Workouts, By Nick Tumminello

Nick Tumminello writes about how men and women need less gender specific exercises and what exercises men and women do need; and that yoga will not give women “longer, leaner muscles” and why.  Read his post HERE.

  1. I know. Matthew McConaughey I’m not completely surprised because I think he’s a little “out there” but RDJ, not very Iron Man like… so sad… ~Artemis
