Menopause Ruins Everything đ©…
Recently on Facebook, one of my friends shared, âMenopause ruins everythingâ
My reply, âThis is true. However, there is a way to bounce back and thrive.â
The menopause years are hard. I know first hand.
Yes, it can make you feel like crap physically and mentally to the point that you literally give up and accept that this is the way itâs going to be for the second half of your life.
BUT, menopause doesnât have to ruin everything.
There are many things that you can do to punch it in the face, take control, and thrive.
I am living proof of this.
I have been a fitness coach for almost 20 years, and have lived an active, holistic lifestyle to optimize hormone balance that includes lots of walking, strength training, and healthy eating+goal targeted nutrition.
Despite all of this, when I turned 45 the shit hit the fan. My body revolted like never before and my body no longer felt like my body.
I experienced all of the horrors of perimenopause from bloating+inflammation to Genitourinary Syndrome (i.e. vaginal dryness).
My body became extremely unforgiving and it did not matter how meticulous I was with my nutrition. I felt like I had no control over my body and that my hormones had gone rogue.
I doubled down on my knowledge and know how as a fitness coach to find the solution to feel amazing and get my abs back.
Now, at 48, I am thriving and helping other women going through the menopause years do the same.
Some of the biggest changes I made included:
- Cutting back on the high intensity cardio and replacing it with daily Zone 2 cardio (65-75% of your max heart rate)
- Targeted supplements for growth hormone, muscle building, bone, brain, and mitochondrial health
- Increasing the protein in my diet to a high protein diet (1.2g – 1.3g of protein per pound of bodyweight)
It breaks my heart to see women in the dark and feeling completely out of control during perimenopause and menopause.
They give up and accept that this is aging and menopause and how itâs going to be for the second half of their lives.
BUT, I assure you, you do not have to feel like crap. I promise, with targeted fitness, nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle changes, you can truly thrive!
