Building a Bangin’ Booty After 40: Embrace Strength, Not Size

In July 2023 I weighed 109.7 lbs 😱.

You see, in an effort to obliterate the poochy perimenopausal lower belly fat, I had drastically cut calories.

It worked, but then, it did not deliver the results I was looking for, and I lost my ass.

At that time, I was regularly weighing in at around 110 lbs and sometimes under 110 lbs.

Now, I’m 5 feet 1 inch tall and I have a small frame, so 109 lbs is still considered a healthy weight for me.

BUT, with the amount of muscle on my body that I have spent decades building, I usually weigh 112 lbs to 114 lbs and sometimes in the past I’ve weighed upwards of 115 lbs to 117 lbs.

I have ALWAYS had a booty, but then one day around that time, I saw my backside in the bathroom mirror at work, and noticed that my ass had disappeared 🕳️.

I was horrified 😳.

My precious kettlebell booty. Gone. POOF💨!

Then I thought, just like my belly, maybe this is how it is. I’m 47 (49 now), approaching 50, and that’s just what happens.

You lose muscle and your ass gets flat and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Then I smacked some sense into myself and said, “HELL NO!” I’m going to get my booty back.

Since then, I’ve worked diligently to get my booty back by lifting HEAVY weights and being comfortable seeing the number on the scale go UP!

Last year around this time, I was averaging 111-112 lbs (better than 109 lbs!), and NOW, this year, I’ve been averaging 114 lbs and I’m proud to announce that my booty is officially BACK and then some🍑💪🏽🔥.

Across the board, no woman ever tells me that they want to be skinny. Instead they want to have curves complete with a bangin’ booty, muscular legs, and shoulders+triceps that go “BA-BAM💥!” in a tank top.

Often what happens is that the scale shifts only slightly but their progress photos show the shape of their dream body with a weight loss of LESS than they were expecting.

If you want to build a bangin’ booty, you have to be ok with seeing a higher number on the scale than you expected.

I know it’s a complete mind f*ck 🥴 because as women we have been taught to be smaller+skinnier, BUT let’s shift this toxic mindset and choose STRONG 💪🏽 over skinny.
