How I feel 🙋🏻‍♀️after sets of barbell deadlifts of 10 reps 😓… . After almost 4 months away from the barbell, it was back to barbell deadlifts yesterday. . I left both get-ups & barbell deadlifts out of my training for about the past 4 months, for no particular reason other than I needed a change of programming & wanted to focus on double kettlebell deadlifts for a few months. . Just as I don’t miss having rough, thick-skinned knees from training get-ups regularly, I don’t miss having scrapes on my shins from training barbell deadlifts regularly. . However, all that changed yesterday, as I got back to get-ups & back to the bar for deadlifts. . I resolved a long time ago that my hands would never be the same because I love kettlebell training & strength training too much. My callused hands are a symbol of all the hard work that I put in day in, day out, year after to year, to be stronger, not just physically, but mentally as well. Call it #irontherapy 🏋🏻‍♀️😍 . As for the tough knees & scraped shins, as much as I love to wear skirts & shorts & as much as I love being a woman & having “lady-like” legs, I also love to lift… & sometimes you just have to suck it up if you want to build strength in different ways. 💪🏼🔥👊🏼💥 . . . . #ladieswholift #womenwholift #girlswholift #strengthtraining #girlswithmuscle #notafraidtolift #kettlebell #kettlebells #barbell #deadlift #deadlifts #saturday #sweatsesh
😈You don’t know unless you try 🤷🏻‍♀️💪🏼🔥👊🏼💥😈 . The heaviest weight I have ever used for 1 hand swings is 24kg (53lbs). Since I started to train for @strongfirst Sinister, today I decided to see if I could 1 hand swing 32kg (70lbs). Sure enough, I could. Now to make them stronger & work up to 5 sets of 10 reps on each side for time. 😈 I moved the #strongfirst Sinister practice sesh that I had planned for Saturday to today. I used 24kg for both 1 hand swings & get-ups. So essentially the Simple protocol for swings & the Sinister protocol for get-ups. 😈 You can watch the entire live, uncut, practice sesh on my IGTV channel 👆🏼Parts 1 & 2. So uncut, I say goodbye to my husband @ericgahanatc as he leaves for work, I talk to myself a few times, I kill a bug on the training floor, & sing 🎤 along to AC⚡️DC. 😈 As you watch the IGTV video 👆🏼note the following: . 1️⃣ I have never done 1 hand 24kg swings for more than 5 reps. So I was pleasantly surprised with how this 15 sec on 15 sec off 10 sets of 10, 1 hand swings with 24kg went. . 2️⃣ I have not trained get-ups since May, so it’s been about 4 months. & I mean ZERO get-ups for 4 months. So zero, my knees are nice & lady like now & not rough & thick skinned like they were when I was training get-ups daily. . SO, the 24kg get-ups you see me do today in the IGTV video are not the most graceful get-ups I have ever done. Hence UNCUT PRACTICE SESH. 😈 Remember, if you want to join me on this training journey, you can start with Simple, which for women is 16kg (35lbs) for get-ups & 24kg for one hand swings.
