NOW, onto my question, DO YOU TAKE TRAINING NOTES?

I’m a little over one week into my post-vacation training and I’ve started back up with my Summer Shred v.2.0 program. I finished this program the day before I left for vacation and pressed 24kg (53lbs) after not pressing it for 2 years and after not pressing anything heavier than 18kg for the 6 weeks of the Summer Shred v.2.0 program and I wasn’t even working towards a heavy press. I’m amazed by the strength you can build with my Summer Shred programs, in fact with all of the Iron Body Shred programs!

Day 2 of the Summer Shred v.2.0 program is double kettlebell swings and double kettlebell front squats. Before I left for vacation I was using double 16kg (70lbs) for sets of 15 double kettlebell swings & double 18kg (80lbs) for double kettlebell front squats.

Since I did not strength train for 2 weeks while I was on vacation I planned to go down one bell size for each movement. I also checked my training notes from last year after I returned from vacation to see what I did on a similar training day last year because I was following my Summer Shred v.1.0 last year.

I always take very detailed training notes after each day that I train. I write down everything from how I slept to the weather, to life stress, to if weights felt light or heavy & any PRs hit that day. With this I can go back YEARS, even as far back as when I was training for the Iron Maiden Challenge 5 years ago, to read about what worked, what didn’t work, what adjustments I made etc.

These notes are essential to success in training and they help me put together the most effective programs for my clients and students including the flow of my women’s strength workshop I Am Not Afraid To Lift®.

Do you take training notes? Please share by responding to this post, I want to know!

Yours in Strength,

Artemis
